RNC's Loyalty Pledge Draws Scrutiny from GOP Candidates and Chris Christie

GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie criticized the requirement for 2024 GOP contenders to agree to support the eventual party nominee in order to appear on the debate stage, calling it a "useless idea." Christie also criticized former President Donald Trump, calling him a "petulant child" and citing his history of praising people when he picked them for key positions in his administration and then blasting them afterward when they left his team. Another 2024 GOP candidate, Asa Hutchinson, recently challenged the notion of a loyalty pledge, saying he wouldn’t support Trump if he were a convicted felon.
