RFK Jr. Set to Break Away from Democrats and Launch Independent Presidential Bid

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is expected to drop his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination and announce an independent run for the 2024 presidential election. Kennedy plans to make the announcement on October 9 in Philadelphia, citing changes in DNC rules as the reason for his decision. The 69-year-old environmental lawyer and anti-vaccine activist has been considering a third-party run for weeks and has been polling his viability in a three-way race against President Biden and former President Trump. Kennedy has criticized the Democratic Party for compromising democratic principles and limiting his fair shot in the primary. He is currently polling at about 15% in national surveys, far behind Biden's 65% support.
