This puts an end to speculation that Ocasio-Cortez, a progressive favorite and fundraising powerhouse, would primary Gillibrand. Other possible progressive challengers to Gillibrand's seat have also signaled they do not plan to run for Senate. However, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who resigned from office in 2021 amid numerous allegations of sexual misconduct, could pose a threat to Gillibrand's reelection.
