NY Dems urge Biden to expedite migrant work permits amidst crisis.

New York Democrats, including Mayor Adams, Governor Hochul, and Reps. Dan Goldman and Jerry Nadler, have called on President Biden to expedite executive action to provide special federal work authorization for asylum-seekers who have arrived in the state since last year. The Democrats urged an expansion of Temporary Protected Status and the need for additional immigration judges. Meanwhile, two dozen counties in New York have issued states of emergency to try to block migrants from coming to their communities, while State Senate Republicans announced a new package of legislation on the subject.
