Michigan AG Drops Charges Against Fake GOP Elector in Exchange for Cooperation

James Renner, one of the pro-Trump fake electors charged in Michigan, has reached a cooperation agreement with state prosecutors, resulting in the dismissal of his case. Renner, 76, is the first defendant to strike a deal in the case, which involves a group of 16 fake electors. As part of the agreement, Renner will provide truthful testimony regarding the 2020 fake electors, including the signing of the sham certificate. If he provides false testimony, the felony charges could be refiled. The remaining 15 defendants, including current and former state GOP officials, have pleaded not guilty.
