Former US President Jimmy Carter, who entered hospice care three months ago, remains in good spirits and is aware of tributes being paid to him. He is also enjoying regular servings of ice cream. Carter, who is the longest-lived US president, announced in February that he would forgo further medical intervention and spend the remainder of his life at home. Despite his age and health, he continues to receive updates on The Carter Center's humanitarian work and is pleased to see the outpouring of support.
