Iowa Democrats Set In-Person Caucus Date, Mail-In Dates Still Unresolved

The Iowa Democratic Party has approved Jan. 15 as the date for the in-person portion of its 2024 presidential caucuses, coinciding with the Iowa Republican caucuses. However, the mail-in portion of the caucuses remains unresolved, as Iowa Democrats have not yet determined when they will tally and announce the results. The Democratic National Committee's Rules and Bylaws Committee has found Iowa's delegate selection plan to be out of compliance with party rules and has set a postmark deadline of March 5, 2024, or later for mail-in preference cards. The presidential nominating calendar continues to be in flux as national Democrats seek to reorder the process.
