Finalists Announced for Minnesota's New State Flag Design

The State Emblem Redesign Commission has selected three finalists for the new Minnesota state flag, which may still be modified. The commission also made changes to the final seal design, removing the year 1858 and the state motto, "l'etoile du nord," and replacing it with the Dakota phrase "Mni Sóta Makoc̣e." The inclusion of Dakota language has sparked controversy and potential legal disputes.
