The move came after the Arizona Supreme Court allowed the 1864 law to be enforced, which permits abortions only for saving the woman’s life and carries a prison sentence for those involved. If the repeal wins final approval and is signed into law, the 2022 statute banning the procedure after 15 weeks of pregnancy would be replaced.
