The map was previously found to have engaged in racial gerrymandering by "exiling" over 30,000 Black residents to benefit Republicans. Despite an appeal to the US Supreme Court, the court has not issued an opinion, leading the federal court to allow the election to proceed under the invalidated map. Republican Rep.
