Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill that prohibits businesses, government agencies, and schools from mandating COVID-19 tests, vaccines, or masks. The bill also allows healthcare providers to deny services based on "conscience-based objections" and prohibits hospitals from interfering with patients' choice of COVID-19 treatment alternatives. The Florida Department of Health and the Agency for Health Care Administration will develop standards for the appropriate use of facial coverings in healthcare facilities. The attorney general's office and Department of Health can levy fines up to $5,000 for each violation of the mandate prohibitions.
