Casey DeSantis Faces Backlash for Iowa Caucus Remarks

Casey DeSantis, wife of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, mistakenly encouraged mothers and grandmothers from across the country to participate in Iowa's caucus, prompting the Republican Party of Iowa to correct her. She later clarified that only registered voters in Iowa can caucus, but encouraged people to volunteer for her husband's campaign in the state. The Trump campaign accused the Desantises of spreading false information and called for clarification from Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds. To caucus in Iowa, one must be eligible to vote in the state, live in the precinct where the caucus site is, be 18 years old by November 5, 2024, and be registered as a Republican or Democrat. Proof of identification is also required.
