Biden Nominates Gen. Charles Q. Brown as Joint Chiefs Chairman

President Biden introduced Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. as his nominee for chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, praising him as a "top-notch strategist" and calling for a new era of innovation in the military. If confirmed, Brown would be the second Black chairman of the Joint Chiefs. Biden also praised Brown's "accelerate change or lose" doctrine and his video after the murder of George Floyd. Brown's nomination comes at a time when some hard-right Republicans in the Senate have accused the military of being too "woke" and concerned about diversity.
