"Biden Administration Expands Background Checks for Gun Shows and Online Sales"

The Biden Administration is closing the "gun show loophole" by implementing a more specific definition of being "engaged in the business" of selling firearms, requiring more people to register for a federal selling license and run background checks on buyers. The change, in accordance with the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, aims to prevent individuals from evading licensing and background check requirements, and to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and felons. Attorney General Merrick Garland signed off on the final rule, which also addresses the liquidation of firearms inventory for dealers who go out of business or lose their license.
