Rescue Teams Save Unprepared Hikers in Ventura County and Santa Paula Canyon.

A group of 10 teenage hikers were rescued by a search and rescue team in Santa Paula Canyon, California, after getting lost on the trails. The hikers, who were not prepared for the climb, were found using Apple's Emergency SOS feature, which allowed them to share their location and conditions with emergency personnel. None of the hikers required medical aid. The search and rescue team recommends hikers always bring essentials including navigation and light sources, first aid supplies, food and water, and a smartphone. Over half of the 990 deaths that occurred in national parks between 2014 - 2016 were due to unintentional causes.
