Wildfires Ravage North Jersey Despite Containment Efforts

A brush fire in West Milford, New Jersey, dubbed the "Kanouse Wildfire," has grown to 250 acres in size, threatening nearly a dozen homes or other structures. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is working to build fire lines to contain the fire and prevent further spread. Northbound Route 23 remains closed, and residents are advised to keep their windows closed to avoid smoke. All horses have been evacuated from Echo Lake Stables, and a team of engines from West Milford Volunteer fire companies are on site for structural protection.
