Typhoon Mawar, now known as Betty, has become the most powerful storm of 2023 globally, with wind speeds of 270km/h. The typhoon has surpassed the strength of any storm recorded in 2022 and is the ninth typhoon since 1950 to reach Category 5 status in May. Guam has already experienced extensive damage and power outages, and the Philippines is now bracing for the storm's impact, with several areas under thunderstorm and landslide warnings.
