Family of teen killed by school officer in California reaches $13M settlement with district.

The family of Manuela "Mona" Rodriguez, an 18-year-old mother who was fatally shot by a school safety officer in California, has reached a $13 million settlement with the Long Beach Unified School District. Rodriguez was taken off life support in October 2021, more than a week after the officer fired at a car she was in. The officer, Eddie F. Gonzalez, was subsequently fired and charged with murder. The settlement includes no admission of liability on the district's part.
