Supporting Veterans: Observing Veteran's Day, Honoring Families, and Advocating for Justice

Veterans Day is officially celebrated on November 11th each year, with a national memorial ceremony held at Arlington National Cemetery. In 2023, since November 11th falls on a Saturday, the federal holiday will be observed on the previous day, Friday, November 10th. Government offices and federal institutions will be closed, and it is a day off for federal employees. Veterans Day originated from the end of World War I and was initially known as Armistice Day. It became a federal holiday in 1938 and was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to honor veterans of all wars and conflicts.
