"Rev. John I. Jenkins to Step Down as University President; John Veihmeyer Elected as Board Chair Successor"

Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., will step down as president of the University of Notre Dame at the end of the 2023-24 academic year, after serving in the role since 2005. He plans to return to teaching and ministry at the university. John Veihmeyer, retired chairman of KPMG International, has been elected as the new chair of Notre Dame's Board of Trustees, effective June 2024. A search is underway for the next president, who will be elected from among the priests of the Congregation of Holy Cross.
