Lawsuit filed over man's death after 20 days in solitary confinement.

A federal lawsuit has been filed against Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer, Jail Commander Chris Everhart, jail personnel, and Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc. after Joshua McLemore died due to a lack of attention by jail staff. McLemore, who had a history of substance abuse and mental health issues, was left alone in his cell, naked, barely sleeping or eating, for almost three weeks as he wasted away in front of their eyes. The lawsuit seeks damages, including compensation for mental, physical and emotional pain, along with punitive damages, attorneys’ fees, and other applicable relief.
