Arrest made in shooting of Oconee Co. deputy

Gregory Wayne Maxwell has been charged with five counts of attempted murder and a weapons charge after allegedly shooting an Oconee County deputy during a chase. The deputy, Corporal Lucas Watts, is in critical but stable condition. Maxwell was later found and injured during a shootout with deputies and is currently in the hospital. The shooting is being investigated by the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.
