Oakland Restaurant Owner Departs Following String of Break-Ins

After enduring multiple break-ins, burglaries, and arson attacks, longtime Oakland restaurant owner Amir Asli has decided to step away from his restaurant, Persian Nights at Bacheesos. Asli's businesses have been broken into 13 times since 2018, with five break-ins this year alone. Frustrated with slow police response times and fearing insurance rate increases, Asli stopped reporting the incidents. The break-ins have taken a toll on his mental health, leading him to relinquish ownership of the restaurant. Asli hopes for a more comprehensive approach to address public safety and support small businesses in Oakland.
