"Outbreak: Fatal Brain Disease Strikes Wisconsin Deer Farm"

A deer farm in Wisconsin has been placed under quarantine after a three-year-old doe tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD), a highly contagious and fatal brain disease. The farm, Thundeer Trophy Whitetails, has about 300 deer and is currently under investigation by state and federal agriculture officials. CWD, which causes weight loss, stumbling, and neurological symptoms, has been detected in deer, elk, reindeer, and moose in various parts of North America, Canada, Norway, and South Korea. While there have been no reported CWD infections in humans, studies suggest a potential risk.
