Tuberculosis Outbreak Spreads to 26 Las Vegas Schools

Over 600 people have been potentially exposed to tuberculosis after a person with active TB visited 26 schools in the Las Vegas area over a year. Public health officials are investigating the spread of the disease and have begun contacting those who may have been exposed. The infected person, whose identity has not been disclosed, is currently receiving treatment. Health officials are coordinating testing for students and staff who had close contact with the infected person, and notifications have been sent to parents. Testing is expected to begin in January, and the health district will use a blood test to detect TB. Similar TB exposures have occurred in other states recently.
