Successful Lung Transplants for Individuals with Reversed Organ Placement

Two individuals with situs inversus, a rare genetic condition where organs are flipped in the body, have successfully undergone lung transplants. Dennis Deer and Yahaira Vega, both suffering from additional rare disorders, were facing severe lung damage and difficulty breathing. The surgeries presented unique challenges due to the reversed anatomy, requiring careful planning and technical modifications. After receiving their new lungs, both patients experienced significant improvements in their health and are now able to breathe without assistance.
