Colorado Radio Host Receives First-Ever Novel TOPS Back Surgery

A first-of-its-kind back surgery called TOPS, which recently received FDA approval, is now available to patients in Colorado. Radio host Tom Martino became the first person in the state to undergo the procedure, which involves replacing the facet joint. Unlike spinal fusion, TOPS surgery allows for greater mobility. Martino, who had been suffering from arthritis and lower back pain, experienced instant pain relief after the surgery and is now back to work. The surgery is considered a potential option for healthy, active individuals with chronic low back pain and sciatic pain.
