Breastfeeding Duration Linked to Improved Test Scores in Children

A new observational study published in the journal Archives of Disease in Childhood found that children who were breastfed for at least 12 months were 39% more likely to have a high pass for both math and English GCSE exams and were 25% less likely to fail the English exam. However, the study only shows a correlation between breastfeeding and test scores, not causation. Families should be encouraged to breastfeed because of multiple possible benefits, but it still may not be best for each individual family. More studies need to be done to confirm the findings.
