MIT engineers have developed inhalable nanoparticle sensors that could simplify lung cancer detection. These sensors, when inhaled, interact with cancer-associated proteins in the lungs and send a detectable signal to the urine, which can be identified using a simple paper test strip. This noninvasive method could be particularly beneficial in regions with limited access to CT scanners, offering a quick and easy diagnostic alternative that could facilitate early detection and treatment of lung cancer.
