National Geographic has laid off all of its staff writers, including award-winning journalists, as part of ongoing job reductions. The magazine, owned by the Walt Disney Co., has seen a series of cuts in recent years, including the layoff of six top editors in 2022. The iconic publication, known for its in-depth articles and stunning photography, had over 12 million U.S. subscribers in the 1980s but now has less than 2 million.
