Central in Lima, Peru has been named the best restaurant in the world according to the 50 Best organization's 2023 list, replacing last year's winner Geranium. Disfrutar in Barcelona, Spain, ranked second on last year's list, was named the best restaurant in Europe. Table by Bruno Verjus in Paris became the highest new entry to the rankings at number 10, while New York's fine dining Korean restaurant Atomix jumped 25 spots to become this year's highest-ranked restaurant in North America. The list has faced criticism for its Western-centric focus and lack of representation of female chefs and cuisines from Africa and India.
