"Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway: Rani Mukerji's Emotional Performance Overshadows Film's Flaws"

Rani Mukerji's latest film, Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, is an overwrought and exhausting melodrama that fails to do justice to the story of a distraught mother fighting to be reunited with her children. Based on a true story, the film portrays the entire foster care system as malicious and compromised, with two women from Norway's Child Welfare Services projected as unscrupulous operators. Mukerji's performance is let down by the writing, which reduces her character to a squealy, volatile and hyperventilating woman. The film is an overheated affair that sucks the air out of an intrinsically moving story that deserved infinitely better.
