Sony Pictures Animation's "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" has become the highest-grossing animated film in Sony's history, surpassing its predecessor "Into the Spider-Verse" in just 12 days. The film made an estimated $55.4 million in North America and $47 million internationally during its second weekend, bringing its global total to $389.9 million. The record-breaking feat was achieved despite facing strong competition from other animated films such as "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" and "The Little Mermaid".
