"Unfazed by Changes: Alaska-Hawaiian Airlines Merger Brings Optimism and Cultural Identity"

Hawaiian Airlines is preparing for changes in its fleet as the Alaska Airlines acquisition progresses. The first aircraft of the upcoming Hawaiian Airlines Dreamliner 787 fleet is almost ready for its inaugural routes to and from California in spring 2024. The airline's aging Boeing 717 interisland fleet is expected to be replaced with Boeing 737 planes, while the A330 mainland fleet is likely to be replaced with Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The troubled A321neo fleet, which has severe engine problems, may be replaced by Alaska Airlines with 737 MAX planes. Hawaiian Airlines is also considering the introduction of a premium economy product in response to industry competition.
