Thanksgiving Travelers Face Delays and Storms as Millions Hit the Road

PennDOT is urging travelers to prioritize safety as millions of people hit the road for Thanksgiving. With high traffic volumes expected, PennDOT is asking the public to be cautious, take it slow, and wear seat belts. In 2021, there were over 26,000 accidents and 361 fatalities during Thanksgiving weekend, with many victims being unrestrained. DUI-related accidents also increase during this holiday, with over 1,100 accidents and 41 fatalities reported in 2022. PennDOT recommends using PA 511 for up-to-date road reports before traveling.
