Alaska Airlines Flight Attendants Picketing at Multiple Airports

Flight attendants from Alaska Airlines are picketing outside Seattle-Tacoma International Airport as part of a nationwide day of action to demand fair contracts with significant pay increases. Holiday travel at the airport is up over 10% from last year, with travel volumes nearing pre-pandemic levels. The union claims that the airline can afford their proposals as it recently announced plans to acquire Hawaiian Airlines for $1.9 billion. Alaska Airlines has offered a 15% increase to the wage scale and plans to continue negotiations in January and February. Southwest and American Airlines are also facing challenging negotiations with their unions.
