Major Traffic Disruptions Expected as I-10 Faces Multiple Closures

The Texas Department of Transportation has announced a 48-hour road closure along I-10 in West El Paso this weekend as part of the I-10 Widening West project. Westbound traffic will be closed from Redd Road to Vinton, with drivers being redirected to North Desert Boulevard. The closure is necessary to switch westbound traffic onto the newly built driving surface. The freeway will reopen on Tuesday, August 8, with westbound thru traffic on the new driving surface. Exit ramps to Redd Road, Transmountain Road, and Vinton Road will be open, while on-ramps will be closed until north of Vinton Road. The project aims to widen I-10 from two lanes in each direction to three and improve on-ramps and off-ramps in West El Paso County.
