OpenAI's ChatGPT, an AI chatbot, can generate anything in written form, including cover letters and CVs, using a dataset containing 570 billion individual words. Jobseekers are already using it to create convincing cover letters and resumes. However, hiring managers may not be able to distinguish between a candidate's writing and AI-generated text. This could lead to a shift in traditional modes of evaluating candidates, such as the cover letter, and a greater emphasis on scrutinizing candidates in face-to-face settings.
