Tesla has made a technological breakthrough in car manufacturing by combining innovations such as gigacasting and 3D printing with industrial sand. The company's new design and manufacturing techniques could allow it to develop a car from scratch in just 18 to 24 months, compared to the three to four years it takes most rivals. Tesla is closing in on the ability to die cast nearly all the complex underbody of an electric vehicle in one piece, which would significantly reduce production costs and disrupt the industry.
