Tesla and Panasonic Boost Battery Production in California and Nevada

Tesla has signed a lease for a new manufacturing facility in Fremont, California, likely to be used for 4680 battery cell production. The company plans to continue experimenting with different cell sizes and chemistries and working with other battery suppliers. Tesla reached a capacity of 1,000 4680 cells per week by the end of Q4 2021 and plans to increase its capacity by another 100 GWh with its Giga Nevada expansion. Elon Musk stated that the company's long-term goal is to produce well in excess of 1,000 gigawatt-hours of cells internally and continue to use other cell providers.
