"GM Recalls 820,000 Pickup Trucks for Safety Concerns"

General Motors is recalling nearly 820,000 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks from 2020-2024 due to a glitch in the electronic latch mechanism that could cause the tailgate to open unexpectedly, potentially leading to objects falling out. The recall, which includes over 570,000 vehicles in the U.S. and roughly 249,000 in Canada, comes after 136 complaints of tailgates opening while vehicles were being driven. Owners are advised to manually close their tailgate before driving until the recall is completed, with GM planning to replace the exterior switch with more water-resistant material.
