Bavarian Inn Matriarch Dorothy Zehnder Dies at 101

Dorothy Zehnder, the beloved matriarch of Frankenmuth's Bavarian Inn, has passed away at the age of 101. Known as a humble servant leader, Zehnder dedicated over 85 years to the Frankenmuth community, leaving a lasting impact on restaurants, tourism, and philanthropic organizations. She was a 2020 Michigan Women's Hall of Fame inductee and authored three successful cookbooks. Zehnder's funeral services will be held at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, and she will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Lorenz Cemetery. Donations in her honor can be made to St. Lorenz Church or Frankenmuth City Beautification.
