The Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) will be raising rates in Jefferson and Oldham counties next month, with an increase of $4.85 for residents in Jefferson County and $3.56 for residents in Oldham County. The rate increases will fund upgrades and refurbishments in both counties, including projects such as upgrading wastewater treatment facilities and addressing capacity issues. MSD also approved an extension of the rate assistance program for those experiencing financial hardships, offering a 30% discount. Applications for the Emergency Wastewater Rate Assistance program will open in early August.
