Jack Daniel's wins trademark dispute over poop-themed dog toy in Supreme Court

The US Supreme Court has ruled in favour of Jack Daniel's in a trademark lawsuit against VIP Products over a poop-themed dog toy that parodies the liquor bottle. The court said the lower court erred when it said the toy was covered by the First Amendment's free speech protections. The ruling allows the liquor maker to revive its trademark lawsuit against VIP Products. However, the court declined to grant the distiller's request to completely throw out the test an appeals court used when it ruled in favour of the toy.
