Martin General Hospital in North Carolina has suspended operations and filed for bankruptcy due to financial challenges caused by a declining population and patients seeking care at other hospitals. The hospital reached out to multiple organizations for potential purchase or operation, but none were willing. Martin County, which has a lease agreement with the hospital until 2029, did not respond to a proposal to revert the hospital back to the county.
