Kraft Heinz Issues Mass Recall of American Cheese Slices After Choking Incidents

Kraft Heinz is voluntarily recalling approximately 83,800 cases of individually-wrapped Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices due to a wrapping machine problem that may leave a thin strip of plastic film on the cheese. There have been six customer complaints of choking or gagging. The recall includes two sets of products with specific UPC codes and "Best When Used By" dates. Consumers are advised not to consume the affected products and to return them for an exchange or refund. Swallowing small pieces of plastic wrappers is generally harmless, but larger pieces can cause obstruction and may leech harmful chemicals into the body. Kraft Heinz has fixed the faulty machine and inspected others, but caution is still advised.
