US Achieves Milestone with First Commercial Offshore Wind Farm Foundations Laid

The first monopile foundation has been installed at South Fork Wind, New York State's first offshore wind farm, which is being built by Ørsted and Eversource. The 132 MW, 12-turbine project is the first commercial offshore wind farm in the US and is expected to power around 70,000 New York homes when it comes online at the end of 2023. South Fork is one of five offshore wind projects New York State has in active development, which will power more than 2.4 million New York homes and bring a combined economic impact of $12.1 billion to the state.
