The administration claims the new standards will save Americans $1.6 billion on utility bills over 30 years and decrease harmful carbon dioxide emissions. The compliance will be required for newly manufactured models beginning January 31, 2028, and includes imported stoves. Last year, there was controversy over the suggestion of banning gas stoves due to their link to childhood asthma, but the administration clarified that any potential ban would only apply to new gas stoves, not existing ones.
