"MLGW Customers Urged to Conserve Energy Voluntarily"

TVA and MLGW have issued an "energy conservation alert" for customers, urging them to voluntarily reduce electrical usage to prevent brownouts and blackouts as frigid weather increases demand for electricity. Measures include turning off clothes dryers, setting thermostats to 68 degrees or lower, and avoiding the use of large electric appliances. Despite the cold, only a small percentage of customers have experienced power outages so far.
