Massive Data Breach Impacts Millions of New Yorkers, Prompting Urgent Precautions

At least four million New York residents may have been impacted by a data breach at medical transcription company Perry Johnson & Associates, potentially leading to identity theft. The breach affects nearly nine million patients, with most of them being in NYC and Syracuse. Healthcare providers Northwell Health and Crouse Health were among those affected. The company became aware of the breach in May and the stolen information includes social security numbers, insurance, and clinical information. New York Attorney General Letitia James urged affected individuals to take necessary steps to protect themselves, such as monitoring credit and informing insurance companies.
